From shared slots to flexible layouts

How independent clock and timer panels separate layout, proportions, and measurement state.

The old shared-slot display

In 0.2.19, the old display that replaced the digital clock's slot with a timer was set aside. That action is distinct from today's drag operation that swaps panel positions.

Independent panels for clocks and timers

In 0.2.40, flexible layouts introduced separate panels for analog clocks, digital clocks, and timers. Combine rows and columns, drop in the center to swap panels, or near an edge to insert above, below, left, or right. Move boundaries to change adjacent panels' proportions.

The panels align within one window and adapt when it is resized, so you do not have to match coordinates by hand. They are not several independently displayed clock windows.

Changing layout keeps time measurement intact

Hiding, rearranging, and resizing panels are separate from starting and ending measurement. Timers continue while you drag, and undoing a layout change does not rewind time. Hiding the last timer also leaves measurement running while the app is open.

Save inputs without carrying over a running timer

Layouts, proportions, names, display words, and entered durations or times are saved. Version 0.2.49 refined restoring timer inputs on the next launch. A restarted timer returns to a stopped state; yesterday's remaining or elapsed time is not carried over.

The window position and size can also be saved. If a clock moves off screen, use the system-tray action to bring it back into view.
